ACT Program

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) at Development Centers, Inc. is a community- based, comprehensive, voluntary mental health treatment program that services chronically mentally ill adults who have histories of frequent hospitalizations and/or crisis services. It’s mission is to assist consumers to remain stable in their environments where they live.ACT accomplishes this task through it’s ability to provide services on a 24/7 basis using a team approach consisting of various disciplines including social workers, psychiatrists, nurses, and peer advocates. ACT is able to adjust it’s frequency and intensity of services based on the current needs of it’s consumers at anytime. ACT has an extensively proven track record through years of research and clinical practice.

 

 

 

 

  Dual Diagnosis

 

The Dual Diagnosis program helps individuals accomplish their recovery for both mental illness and chemical dependency.  Services offered are individual counseling, psychiatric and nurse services, and group therapy.  DCI is proud of the variety of groups offered and the flexibility it allows each consumer to further personalize their treatment. 

 

 

 

 

New Directions Clubhouse

 

New Directions is a Clubhouse modeled program based upon psychosocial rehabilitation principles, as sanctioned by the International Center for Clubhouse Development. New Directions Clubhouse serves adults with sever and persistent mental illness and focuses on recovery and adaptation to their psychiatric disability. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm, which is known as the “work ordered day”. Clubhouse staff and members work side-by-side to accomplish individual or team tasks necessary for the development and maintenance of the program. Members are involved in all aspects of the decision-making and operations of the club. The program provides a dynamic environment, which invites active participation and engagement of members. It parallels a normative adult work environment where members have the opportunity to have meaningful work in the clubhouse and community. Social activities occur after 3:00pm and on two Saturday’s per month.

 

 

 

 

 

  Omega Project

 

Omega is a specialized Assertive Community Treatment Program that provides services to the severe mentally ill and chronically homeless population. We are in partnership with the Coalition On Temporary Shelters (C.O.T.S.) who has responsibility for the housing component. The Omega team consists of mental health professionals, a registered nurse, a psychiatrist and a peer advocate. Participants are assisted with life management skills such as grocery shopping and laundry, entitlement benefits such as Medicaid and Social Security, financial management such as budget planning, medical assistance such as scheduling routine visits for both medical and psychiatric services.

 

 

 

 

Outpatient Services

 

Adult Outpatient program provides quality individual, group and family therapy for adults with mental health issues. This program helps people achieve goals, maintain community stability and resolve past and present issues. On-going support to cope with feelings and life stressors is given in a trusting environment.

 

 

 

 

  Housing Programs

 

Shelter Plus Care Program

 

Development Centers Shelter Plus Care program provides safe, affordable housing in the Northwest Detroit community. This program helps low-income, homeless individuals with mental illness access quality housing by providing rental subsidy and ongoing long-term follow up support. Participants in this program are linked to a variety of community-based services including: local food banks and vocational/recreational opportunities to help them achieve and maintain independent living.

 

Hope Park

 

Development Centers, Hope Park Homes consist of 9 new homes located in the Brightmore area.  This is  a low -income tax credit project that affords large homeless families the chance to live in new housing at very affordable rates. Hope Park is a wonderful housing opportunity for people with disabilities.  Participants are provided ongoing support from both adult and children's specialized service. 

 

 

 

 

Targeted Case Management

 

Development Centers case management team provides community based home visits and community outreach to assist persons with severe and persistent mental illness to obtain benefits, insurance, transportation, medical care, housing, food, and vocational/recreational services according to each individual’s needs and preferences. The intensity of service provided by case management is matched according to the individual needs of the person served.
