Consumer
Advisory Council

Development Centers, Inc. (DCI) is proud of the accomplishments of our Consumer Advisory Committee.  The purpose of this committee is to assist us with improving services here at DCI by doing the following:

  • Passing along suggestions.
  • Sharing concerns obtained from other DCI consumers.
  • Educating the community about Mental Illness in order to break the stigma of persons with mental illness.
  • Educating the staff of DCI regarding the everyday challenges that they face so that they can better serve them.
  • Encouraging other consumers to take a more active part in their treatment and Person Centered Planning.

We would like to invite you to come and be a part of this important committee.  Please bring your new ideas and input.  This committee is open to all DCI consumers and their families.  If you have any questions, please call our Customer Services Representative at (313) 531-2500 ext. 1206.  We look forward to hearing
from you.

Adopt DCI

(Corporate Sponsorship)

Many corporations give back to the community by partnering with a nonprofit organization and encouraging their employees to also become involved in bettering the community through this nonprofit. This partnership or adoption can include a direct corporate donation ("Fund-a-Program"), the corporation hosting an event where the proceeds benefit Develoment Centers, promoting casual dress days where employees "pay" to dress down and the proceeds benefit Develoment Centers, paying employees to "volunteer" their time to help support Develoment Centers during a particular event or time, as well as other fun and creative activities which benefit both agencies. Please contact our Development Officer at ext. 1218 if your company is interested in adopting Develoment Centers.

Holiday Baskets/Adopt-A-Family Program

Many of the families we serve find it financially difficult to celebrate the December holidays. As a result, each November, our staff selects approximately 150 of our neediest families to receive holiday food baskets or participate in our Adopt-A-Family for the Holidays Program. Staff donates and collects cash, food, clothing, toys and small gift items to distribute to the families in time for the holidays. Consider helping us in this cause by simply donating cash or any of the above-listed items. The average cost of each holiday basket is $50. If you are interested in making a bigger commitment over the holidays, consider "adopting" one of our families. Each family is encouraged to create a small "wish list" in which the donor then tries to fulfill. Wish list items often include clothing, winter boots, school supplies, small toys and food. Many families are "adopted" by other families or services groups. Whether through a straight donation or "adopting" a family, you can help bring some magic to deserving families who will otherwise go without this holiday season. Please contact our Development Officer if you are interested.
